As part of the Vancouver Dialogues Project a community survey, literature scan and interviews were undertaken to gather information, opinions and perspectives from the communities.
The survey was conducted to gather information from diverse communities and provide a snapshot view of people’s perspectives and experiences regarding Aboriginal and immigrant/non-Aboriginal relations. The survey was distributed between May and July 2010 through the project partner organizations, interested stakeholder groups, and other participants involved in the project. In total 477 individuals filled out the survey. See survey results..
The literature scan was also done to review information targeted at newcomers regarding Aboriginal histories, issues and perspectives. The main sources of information reviewed were from government departments and community organizations. List of Resources
Interviews with members of the Aboriginal and immigrant/non-Aboriginal communities were done to gather their perspectives on the issues raised in the project. These individuals were interviewed because in their work and life experiences they had addressed issues of cross-cultural dialogue and exchange.
