The Dialogues Project in partnership with the Vancouver School Board Engaged Immigrant Youth Program are collaborating on an initiative that is engaging newcomer and Aboriginal youth in a series of cross cultural activities. This 3-month project builds on the engagement work started by the Dialogues Project in 2010 where First Nations, Urban Aboriginal and Immigrant communities were brought together for the purpose of increasing understanding and strengthening relationships among communities. This initiative will engage youth in interactive and experiential sessions and events that will facilitate inter-cultural dialogue and understanding.
“hi:yay’əs: A Dialogues Summit on Strengthening Relations” took place from June 15-17, 2012. This two-and-a-half day youth summit featured speakers, panels and workshops aimed at strengthening relations between First Nations, Urban Aboriginal and immigrant/non-Aboriginal communities. The summit involved over 205 participants and was largely informed by topics raised through online engagement and youth sessions held from March through to May. Summit Workshops & Speakers
